Symbols & Signs to Recognize Zaphkiel
The name Zaphkiel translates to “Knowledge of God”. He has been referenced as chief of the order of Thrones and one of the 9 angels that rule Heaven. Some say he governs the planet Saturn, while others claim he arises from Venus – the planet of love.
I tend to experience Zaphkiel in a deliciously warm red, orange, and yellow flames with tingling sensations throughout the body. Others may perceive him as being associated with the color purple. He is very much connected to the Sacral and lower Chakras, associated with the color orange, so balance between the physical and spiritual can be achieved.

Having a Personal Experience with Archangel Zaphkiel
So I’m about to get real and personal with you here…. My first experience with Archangel Zaphkiel began after a sexual assault when I was 18. I was desperate to rise above the pain and violation. I did not want this horrible experience to ruin my chances of finding true love and being able to connect with a partner on an intimate level.
I began therapy and also began reading as many books as I could find on sex and intimacy, to build my confidence. One day, I was walking down a store filled street on my way to class and I saw a bookstore with a bin of $1 books As I walked past, a book fell out of the bin and onto my path. I picked it up and noticed that the book was about self worth and sex! I paid for the book and brought it home.

After class, I began reading the book and had a very intense meditation journey. On this journey, an orange flamed figure appeared and filled me with warmth and worth. His energy gave me hope and courage, and his message let me know that my desire to grow beyond this current pain and confusion was assured… I would find love again and would enjoy the passions that life had to offer.
I returned from that meditative journey feeling more alive than I had felt in months! AND…I had a “random” image in my head to indulge in a sensual practice – champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. I called up a good friend and invited them over to indulge in this delectable treat for the first time. I shared my meditative memory and then we toasted to a new future. I’ve never looked back!
It wasn’t until many years later, as I was intentionally exploring each of the Archangels, that I was reminded of this experience and realized that Zaphkiel was by my side during my healing! Without his inspiration and his patient love, I would not have been able to move past the harm caused and rise into the person and lover I became in spite of it!

Close your eyes. Sit in stillness for a moment. Bring attention to your heart. Feel it beating in your chest. Notice its rhythm and speed. Match your breath to your heartbeat. Now bring attention to your sacral chakra. Notice its rhythm and speed. Listen closely. Can you hear its voice yearning to be heard? Can you feel its subtle pulse pulling you toward your desires? Lean into that feeling now. Notice how it feels to move into your desires, the expressive freedom that comes to you in a rush!
